Starting Lineup

wudda · ruqi · Flo · Cayz · xoruu · SlimJim · sivicz · kaelum · Breezo · Shogun · mitch

Albania focuses on a defensive identity built for quick transitions using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup aims to stay compact when the opposition has the ball and use the width of the pitch to launch attacks once they win possession. The goal is to sit deep and force the opponent into mistakes before hitting them in behind.

Shogun stays between the posts to command the area and organize the defensive line. The defense operates as a back five with SlimJim acting as the central anchor to win headers and clear the lines. Breezo and mitch operate as the wide centre-backs, with Breezo covering the right side and mitch protecting the left. Kaelum and sivicz play as the attacking wing backs, tasked with providing width and tracking back to form a flat five when defending. This unit functions to squeeze the space between the lines and maintain a narrow defensive block to deny central entries.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a carrier. Cayz and xoruu occupy the central spaces to win the second ball and disrupt play, while Flo sits slightly deeper to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Flo helps to recycle possession and shields the defense during sustained pressure. Cayz works to press aggressively to win the ball high in the middle third, while xoruu looks to carry the ball forward into the attacking half. This trio works to compress the midfield and prevent the opponent from playing through the lines.

Albania utilizes two forwards in a partnership at the front. wudda plays as a left striker to stretch the defense, while ruqi operates as a right striker to link up with the midfield. The two forwards press the opposition back line to force long balls and prevent comfortable buildup. When moving into transition, the wing backs Kaelum and sivicz push high to provide crosses, creating runs in behind for ruqi and wudda to exploit. The attack relies on quick combinations to catch the opposition defense out of position.

One major strength for Albania is the ability to create wide overloads when Kaelum and sivicz join the attack. This forces the opposition to defend much wider areas, leaving gaps in the center. Another advantage is the compactness when defending, as the five defenders and three midfielders make it very difficult for opponents to find space in the final third. The setup also allows for a very high speed of transition once the midfield unit wins the ball.

This 5-3-2 formation provides a solid platform for a team that wants to absorb pressure and strike on the break. It is best suited for matches against dominant sides where Albania needs to defend in a low block and exploit space behind the opponent.
