PUMPIDO guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back line operates as a narrow defensive block consisting of three central defenders and two wide wing backs. GALLEGO holds the center of the defense to clear the lines and win the header. GUTIERREZ and RUGGERI sit on either side of him to cover the space and pick up runners. GORDILLO acts as a right wing back to provide width, while MONTENEGRO operates on the left to help the defense shift as a unit. This five man group ensures the team remains hard to break down through the middle.

The midfield functions as a flat four to control the central zone. ENRIQUE and ALFARO form a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. They work to intercept passes and break the line when possession is regained. ALONSO and ALZAMENDI occupy the wider channels in the midfield to connect the defensive and attacking lines. They must track back to help the wing backs and press in a mid-block to prevent the opposition from playing through the thirds.

River utilizes a lone striker in FUNES to lead the front line. He acts as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opponent back line. The attack relies on quick transitions where ALONSO and ALZAMENDI look to find the feet of the striker or hit in behind on the transition. The wing backs GORDILLO and MONTENEGRO provide the necessary width to stretch the defense during these moments. The team aims to move the ball quickly to catch the opposition out of position.
