Fenerbahçe Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Liva · Carlos · Skriniar · Yusuf · Oğuz · Szymanski · Fred · İsmail · Tadic · Nesyri · DzekoFenerbahçe relies on a high press and quick transitions, working within a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup aims to dominate the central areas of the pitch and squeeze the space available to the opposition. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward with speed to catch the defense out of position.
Liva guards the goal as the lone goalkeeper. In front of him, a back three provides a solid base. Skriniar sits centrally as a dominant presence in the air to clear long balls. Yusuf plays as the left centre-back, while Carlos operates as the right centre-back to provide coverage. When the team defends in a mid-block, this unit stays compact to deny the turn to opposition strikers and secure the middle of the pitch.
The midfield functions as a five man unit with a heavy central presence. Tadic operates as the attacking ten, sitting behind the strikers to create chances. Fred and İsmail form a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Fred uses his high pressing intensity to disrupt play, while İsmail helps to recycle possession. On the flanks, Szymanski and Oğuz act as wide midfielders who must cover the entire wing. They push up to support the attack and track back to help the back three.
The attacking force uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition. Dzeko plays as a target man, using his strength to hold up the ball and lay it off to teammates. Nesyri plays alongside him, looking to make runs in behind the last defender. This duo works to pin the last defender and create space for Tadic to arrive late into the box. When Fenerbahçe attacks, the wingers pull wide to provide width, allowing for crosses to be whipped into the box.
One major strength is the ability to create numerical superiority in midfield through the positioning of Tadic and the two central midfielders. The team can also use the wide players to create overloads when they overlap the wingers. This setup allows for quick transitions where the ball moves rapidly from the defensive unit to the two strikers.
Fenerbahçe uses this 3-5-2 to control the tempo through central dominance. It is a formation best suited for games against opponents who play with a narrow midfield or struggle with high pressure.
