Alavés Football Formation
Starting Lineup
wudda24 · RGMY · Flo · breezo · ruqi · cayzz · tnn · JDL · flying cat · tamango · sea2Alavés aims to dominate through a high press and rapid verticality. This 4-3-3 formation is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move toward the goal with speed. The team wants to squeeze the space in the opposition half to force mistakes and create quick scoring chances.
In goal, tamango operates to organize the defensive unit. The back line works as a flat back four to maintain a compact block. sea2 is an attacking full back who will push high to overlap the winger, while JDL performs a similar role on the left side. In the heart of the defense, breezo and flying cat act as the central defenders. breezo is tasked to cover the space while flying cat remains dominant in the air during set pieces. The unit moves together to hold the line and defend zonally.
In the middle of the pitch, the midfield works with a single pivot to protect the back four. Flo sits deep to shield the defense and win the second ball. To his right and left, tnn and RGMY act as the engine room to connect the lines. tnn looks to receive on the half-turn and progress through the thirds, while RGMY seeks to carry the ball forward to drive the play. This group works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposition players.
The attacking unit consists of three players positioned to stretch the defence. wudda24 plays as a lone striker to find the feet of his teammates and hold up the ball. On the wings, cayzz and ruqi operate as wide attackers who cut inside to find space in the channels. This movement creates space for the full backs to overlap and deliver crosses. The front three press from the front to disrupt the opposition and force a long ball.
A major advantage of this Alavés formation is the ability to create wide overloads. When sea2 and ruqi move together, they can pin the last defender and find ways to reach the byline. The team also excels at winning the ball high up the pitch to spark a quick break. This creates a high intensity game that relies on speed of transition and pressing in pairs.
This 4-3-3 formation is built for an aggressive and pressing identity. It is most effective when facing opponents that try to play short from the back.
