Pisa aims to play a direct and high pressing style of football using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and win the ball back high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. The goal is to create quick transitions that catch the opposition defense before they can get organized.

Semper operates between the posts to guard the goal. The defensive unit works as a back three with Bonfanti acting as the left centre back and Rus playing as the right centre back. Canestrelli sits in the middle of this trio to hold the line. This back three functions as a zonal line to protect the central areas. Bonfanti and Rus act as wide centre backs who can step up to engage attackers, while Canestrelli provides cover to sweep behind the line if an opponent breaks through.

The midfield consists of a central pairing and two wide players. Marin and Højholt form the core of the midfield to protect the defence and connect the lines. Marin works to shield the defence and win second balls, while Højholt looks to carry the ball forward and drive the play. On the flanks, Touré and Angori act as wide midfielders who provide width. They are tasked to track back to help the defenders and press in a mid-block when the opposition has possession.

In the attacking third, Pisa uses three forwards to pin the last defender. Lind plays as the lone striker, acting as a target man to hold up the ball and bring others into play. Moreo and Meister operate as wide attackers. Moreo stays on the left to cut inside and create chances, while Meister stays on the right to push the play forward. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. This movement is designed to create runs in behind and allow the wide players to deliver crosses into the box.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for Pisa. The wide midfielders and wingers allow for wide overloads that can stretch the defence. The presence of three central defenders ensures compactness when defending. Additionally, the setup allows the team to press in coordinated waves to win possession quickly in the final third.

Pisa uses this 3-4-3 to dominate games through high intensity and physical presence. This lineup is best suited for facing teams that try to build play slowly from the back.
