In the middle of the pitch, PSG utilizes a four man unit to control the tempo. Hakimi and L. Hernandez act as a double pivot to shield the defense. Hakimi uses his ability to carry the ball forward to drive into the half spaces and push the play higher. L. Hernandez works to recycle possession and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Ruiz and Vitinha operate as two tens to press aggressively and win the ball high up the pitch. They look to play through the lines to find the attackers quickly.

The attacking unit is extremely heavy with four players across the front. Kvaratskhelia stays wide on the left as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside. Dembélé operates on the right, using his dribbling style to pull defenders out of position and spread wide. Asensio and G. Ramos function as a striking partnership in the center. G. Ramos acts as a presence to hold up the ball, while Asensio looks to arrive late into the box. This front four works to pin the last defender and create combinations in tight spaces.

This formation offers massive numerical superiority in the attacking third. By pushing Hakimi and L. Hernandez high, PSG can create wide overloads that stretch the defence. The coordination of the front four allows for a heavy press in waves to win it back high up the pitch. This formation makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back or pass through the midfield without being caught.
