Livaković acts as the last line of defense, staying alert to sweeping behind the back line when the team pushes high. The defense functions as a flat back four, with Kostic playing as a left back who can push forward to provide width. On the right, Mert holds the position to maintain the defensive line. In the center, D. Carlos and Skriniar must defend zonally, with Skriniar using his strength to win the header and D. Carlos looking to intercept passes. The unit works to hold the line and move as a single block to prevent gaps.

The midfield is a five man unit that relies on a double pivot to protect the back four. Amrabat acts as the deep lying playmaker, sitting in front of the defense to shield the center backs and recycle possession. Fred operates as the other side of the pivot, using his high pressing intensity to win the ball back and drive forward with the ball. In the advanced roles, Tadic provides creative passing and helps connect the lines, while Talisca looks to arrive late into the box to support the attack. İrfan operates in the half spaces to link the play and ensure the team remains compact when the opposition has the ball.

Fenerbahçe uses a lone striker in Edin Dzeko to lead the line. Dzeko acts as a target man, using his hold up the ball ability to allow the midfielders to join the attack.
