Focusing on a heavy mid-block to squeeze the space and protect the central areas, Vélez operates with a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to be defensively solid and compact, prioritizing control of the central zones before looking to strike. The team aims to remain difficult to break down by maintaining tight distances between the lines, making it hard for opponents to play through the thirds.

T. Marchiori guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back four stays relatively disciplined, with J. García and E. Gómez acting as full backs who must track back to cover wide areas. In the center, E. Mammana and V. Gómez form the heart of the defense, working together to defend zonally and win the second ball. They focus on holding the line and ensuring the opposition cannot run in behind.

The midfield is crowded and intended to deny the turn for any attacking player. C. Ordonez and R. Villagra act as a double pivot to shield the defense, with C. Ordonez sitting deeper to intercept passes. Ahead of them, H. López, I. Machuca, and M. Vargas fill the half-spaces to connect the defensive unit to the attack. These players are tasked to press in a mid-block and recycle possession to move the team up the pitch.

In the attacking phase, M. Pellegrino works as a lone striker. He is required to hold up the ball and wait for the midfielders to arrive. The attack relies on the wide midfielders to spread wide and deliver crosses, or to cut inside to create numbers in the box. When the team wins the ball back high up the pitch, the goal is to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opponent out of position.
