Starting Lineup

Christensenn · Lochoshvili · Bronn · Corazza · Stojanovic · Amatucci · Reine-Adélaïde · Caligara · Tongya · Verde · Cerri

Salernitana aims to play a high press and direct style of football with a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and hit the opposition quickly through the channels. The team seeks to use verticality to stretch the pitch and create chances before the defensive block can settle.

Christensenn operates between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four functions as a flat back four to maintain compactness. Stojanovic plays as a right back and is expected to provide width, while Corazza acts as the left back to cover the flank. Bronn and Lochoshvili act as the central defenders, with Bronn covering the right side and Lochoshvili handling the left. They work together to defend zonally and ensure they do not get pulled out of position when the team pushes high.

In the middle of the park, Salernitana utilizes a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Amatucci sits in front of the defense to shield the back four and win the second ball. Caligara and Reine-Adélaïde act as the two more advanced midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines. Caligara works to carry the ball forward and drive into space, while Reine-Adélaïde uses his technical ability to play through the lines and find the attackers. This trio must stay close together to deny the turn to the opposition midfielders.

The attacking unit features three players across the front line to pin the last defender. Cerri acts as the lone striker and is tasked to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. On the wings, Tongya and Verde provide the width, with Tongya often looking to cut inside from the left. Verde operates on the right to stretch the defence and deliver crosses. This front three works in combinations to create runs in behind and isolate wide players in one on one situations.

One major advantage for Salernitana is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball from the opposition. The formation also offers speed of transition when the midfield wins possession. By having the wingers spread wide, the team can create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the attack.

This 4-3-3 formation provides a clear path for rapid attacking transitions. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
