Starting Lineup

Yañez · Guille · Pablo Garcia · Olaetxea · Maras · Diego Sanchez · Nacho Martin · Nacho Mendez · Dotor · Otero · Dubasin

Real Sporting aims to control the center of the pitch through a high press and rapid transitions, using a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and use the extra bodies in the middle to dominate play. The goal is to squeeze the space in the middle of the park and force the opposition into mistakes.

Yañez stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line consists of a back three where Diego Sanchez acts as the left center back, Maras operates as the right center back, and Olaetxea holds the center. Diego Sanchez and Maras provide width when needed, while Olaetxea focuses on winning the header and clearing the lines. This trio works together to hold a high line and step up to catch attackers offside, ensuring the team stays compact when defending.

The midfield is a five man unit designed to dominate the central zones. Pablo Garcia and Guille form a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Nacho Martin sits just ahead of them to connect the defensive and attacking lines. On the flanks, Dotor and Nacho Mendez operate in the half spaces to provide width and support the central players. Nacho Mendez and Dotor press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch, allowing the team to attack quickly.

Real Sporting uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Otero and Dubasin work together to stretch the defense, with Otero often looking to run in behind while Dubasin works to hold up the ball. The wingers, Dotor and Nacho Mendez, push high to support the strikers, creating wide overloads. This allows the team to attack in combinations, using the players in the half spaces to play through the lines and find the feet of the striker.

One major advantage for Real Sporting is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows them to control possession and recycle possession easily. The formation also allows for the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build out from the back. By using the wide midfielders to support the wingers, the team can create wide overloads that force the opposition to shift constantly.

The 3-5-2 formation gives Real Sporting a powerful presence in the middle of the park. It is a lineup best suited for matches against teams that try to play through the center.
