Samu Lino likes to push up to support the attack, while Giuliano provides width and tracks back to help the defence. This midfield works to squeeze the space in the center.

Up front, Atlético employs two forwards in a partnership consisting of Sørloth and J.alvarez. Sørloth acts as a target man who can hold up the ball and win the header to bring others into play. J.alvarez plays as a pressing centre-forward, constantly looking to press the opposition back line and make runs in behind. The team attacks in combinations, using the wide players to provide service for the strikers. They look to hit in behind on the transition and use the movement of the two forwards to stretch the defence.
