Estudiantes (LP) Football Formation
Starting Lineup
CELLAY · SCHIAVI · DESÁBATO · RÉ · BRAÑA · PÉREZ · VERÓN · BENÍTEZ · BOSELLI · FERNÁNDEZ · ANDÚJAREstudiantes (LP) aim to play a direct and physically imposing game using a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to stay compact and rely on quick transitions to catch opponents off guard. The team looks to control the central areas while maintaining a solid base to prevent being overrun in the middle of the pitch.
ANDÚJAR guards the goal and manages the defensive line from deep. A flat back four provides the foundation for the defense with DESÁBATO acting as a ball playing center back who can look to play through the lines. SCHIAVI provides aerial strength and covers the space behind the wide players. RÉ plays as a left back who can push up to support the midfield while CELLAY works on the right to provide balance. The defensive unit works together to hold a disciplined line and minimize gaps between the players.
The midfield consists of a double pivot that provides a screen for the back four. PÉREZ and BRAÑA work as the defensive engine, with PÉREZ acting to shield the center and BRAÑA pressing to win the second ball. Ahead of them, VERÓN and BENÍTEZ operate in the wide areas but often move inside to create central presence. VERÓN uses his passing range to find the attackers, while BENÍTEZ helps to link the defensive and attacking lines. This four man midfield unit shifts side to side to maintain a compact shape when the opposition has the ball.
The attacking unit uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition back line. BOSELLI acts as a focal point to hold up the ball and bring others into play. FERNÁNDEZ plays alongside him, often looking to make runs in behind to exploit space. They work in combinations to pull defenders out of position, either by checking back or making quick one-two movements. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and prevent the opposition from building out from the back easily.
One major advantage for Estudiantes (LP) is the ability to maintain compactness when defending in a mid-block. This makes it very hard for opponents to find space between the lines. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when they win the ball in the middle third. By using the passing range of VERÓN, they can quickly switch play to the wide areas to isolate players in one on one situations.
This 4-4-2 formation offers a reliable balance between defensive solidity and direct attacking intent. It is best suited for matches against ball playing sides where winning the second ball and hitting on the break can be effective.
