Juventude prioritizes defensive solidity and quick transitions. This 5-2-3 formation is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to strike. The team wants to defend in a compact block and then use the width of the pitch to play through the lines as they transition.

Gustavo plays in goal to organize the defensive line. The team uses a back five where Jadson sits in the middle to hold the line and win headers. Abner and Wilker Angel act as wide centre-backs to cover the space behind the wing backs and pick up runners. Felipinho and Ewerthon operate as attacking wing backs to provide maximum width. Felipinho and Ewerthon push high to overlap the winger and help the attack, while the back three stays narrow to protect the centre.

The midfield consists of a double pivot with Giraldo and Luis Mandaca. They work to shield the defence and win the second ball. Luis Mandaca is tasked to carry the ball forward and connect the lines, while Giraldo stays deeper to protect the space in front of the centre-backs. This pairing helps the team recycle possession and switch play to the wide areas to find the forwards.

The attack features three players across the front. Erick acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. Giovanny and Ênio play as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defence. Giovanny looks to cut inside to create chances, while Ênio pushes to get to the byline and whip it in. The front three press from the front to force a long ball and win it back high up the pitch.

A key strength for Juventude is the ability to create wide overloads as Felipinho and Ewerthon push forward. The formation also provides great compactness when defending in a mid-block. This makes it very difficult for the opposition to play through the middle. Additionally, the team is able to hit in behind on the transition with the pace of the wide players.

This formation is designed to be hard to break down while remaining lethal on the counter. It is best used against opponents who play a high line and dominate possession.
