The attack is heavily weighted with four players pushing high. Schöpf and T. Sabitzer operate as two central strikers in a partnership to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the flanks, Zukic and Ballo provide the width by staying close to the touchlines. Zukic works to get to the byline and whip it in, while Ballo looks to cut inside and attack the far post. This allows the team to attack in combinations and hit in behind on the transition.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. With four forwards and two attacking midfielders, the team can trigger a press immediately upon losing possession. Another strength is the ability to create numerical superiority in the attacking third.
