PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Amani (1) · Chapa (8) · Michelin (4) · Kira (25) · Tsurugi (29) · Karasu (27) · Shido (99) · Ayden (11) · Loki (7) · Tokimitsu (20) · Chevalier (6)PSG aims to be defensively solid and relies on a low block to frustrate opposition teams. This lineup utilizes a 5-4-1 formation designed to sit deep and strike on the break. The team focuses on compactness to deny space in the middle and forces the play wide where they can regain possession.
Amani stays on the goal line to organize the back five. Karasu acts as the central defender in the middle of the three, while Michelin and Chapa occupy the wide centre-back roles to provide cover. Michelin plays as a ball playing defender to help start attacks from the back. Tsurugi and Kira operate as attacking wing backs who provide the width during transitions. Tsurugi pushes high to support the flank while Kira stays ready to track back and cover the space. The defensive unit stays narrow to protect the central area and works as a single block to limit passing lanes.
The midfield operates in a flat four to protect the defensive line. Tokimitsu and Chevalier form a central pairing to shield the defence and win the second ball. Tokimitsu works to press aggressively to win the ball high when the team moves into a mid-block. Chevalier connects the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball from the defenders. Loki and Ayden play on the flanks to provide width and help the wing backs. Loki is tasked to track back and support Kira, while Ayden works to provide service to the striker. This midfield group stays compact to ensure the opposition cannot play through the lines.
Shido leads the line as a lone striker. He plays as a pressing centre-forward to bother the opposition back line and force a long ball. The attack is built through quick transitions where the wing backs, Kira and Tsurugi, look to whip it in or find Shido in behind. Shido must hold up the ball to allow Tokimitsu and Chevalier to join the attack. The team relies on the movements of Loki and Ayden to stretch the defence and create space in the channels.
PSG creates numerical superiority in the defensive third by using a back five. This formation offers great compactness when defending in a low block. The speed of transition allows the team to hit opponents on the break when they lose possession.
This 5-4-1 formation is built for teams that want to absorb pressure and defend deep. It is best suited for games against dominant sides where PSG needs to sit deep and counter at pace.
