Flavio Conceição plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to link the midfield to the front line. This midfield group connects the defense to the attack by recycling possession and finding the runners in between the lines.

The attack uses three players across the front to stretch the defense. Telles plays as a wide winger on the left to provide width, while Elano operates on the right. Elano is noted for his passing range and set piece delivery. Jô Christian acts as the lone striker and target man to hold up the ball and wait for support. The team attacks in combinations with the wingers cutting inside to create space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box.

Galatasaray creates tactical advantages through numerical superiority in the midfield and the ability to press high in coordinated waves.
