Starting Lineup

J. Auer · Bolla · Raux Yao · Cvetkovic · Grgic · Amane · Beljo · Seidl · Jansson · Radulovic · Hedl

SK Rapid aims to dominate through extreme verticality and aggression in a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm opponents with numbers in the central areas and force the play forward quickly. By playing with a heavy emphasis on the attacking third, SK Rapid looks to win the ball high up the pitch and exploit any gaps left behind the opposition defense.

Hedl stays between the posts to act as the last line of defense. The defensive unit relies on a back two of Raux Yao and Cvetkovic, who must remain extremely disciplined. These two central defenders often have to cover large amounts of space behind the midfield. Raux Yao and Cvetkovic act as ball playing defenders, tasked with playing short from the back to build play or hitting long balls to the front line. Because there are only two in the back, they must be ready to step up and catch attackers offside or drop deep to cover runs in behind.

The midfield is the engine room of this formation, operating as a massive five man block. Bolla and J. Auer act as a double pivot to shield the two central defenders. Bolla focuses on winning the second ball while J. Auer connects the defensive and attacking lines. Grgic and Amane operate in the half spaces as inverted eights, driving forward with the ball to support the attack. Seidl plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, finding pockets of space to create chances. This group must work hard to squeeze the space and prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.

The attacking trio focuses on directness and stretching the pitch. Beljo acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the flanks, Jansson and Radulovic play as wide wingers who look to isolate one on one situations. Jansson often looks to cut inside to create room for the midfielders, while Radulovic stays wide to whip it in or deliver early crosses. This front line is designed to press the opposition back line aggressively, forcing mistakes that allow the midfield to arrive late into the box.

One major advantage for SK Rapid is the numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. With five players in the midfield line, they can easily control the tempo and recycle possession. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the attacking midfielders to trap opponents. This setup creates constant pressure and makes it very difficult for the opposition to build play from their own half.

This 2-5-3 formation creates a high risk and high reward tactical identity. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to break down a parked bus or overwhelm an opponent through sheer offensive volume.
