Starting Lineup

Trubin · Bastoni · Pavard · Diomandé · Tavares · Savic · Tonali · Barella · Hakimi · Thuram · Gyokeres

Inter prioritizes a heavy press and quick transitions in a 3-5-2. This formation focuses on controlling the center of the pitch while utilizing wing backs to stretch the opposition. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward with verticality to catch the defense out of position.

Trubin stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defense works as a back three where Bastoni acts as a ball playing defender with a great passing range. Pavard covers the right side of the unit while Diomandé provides physical presence to win the second ball. This defensive unit can step up to set the offside trap or sit deep to defend a narrow defensive block when needed.

A three man midfield provides the engine for Inter. Tonali acts as the deep lying playmaker to recycle possession and protect the back three. Barella drives forward with the ball to link the lines, while Savic works to intercept passes and shield the defense. Hakimi and Tavares function as wing backs to provide width, stretching the defense and helping the midfield when they need to press in a mid block.

The attack relies on two forwards working in close combinations. Gyokeres plays as the lead striker to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. Thuram works alongside him to make runs in behind and find space between the lines. The team builds play through the wide areas, using Hakimi to overlap the winger and provide crosses. These attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through numerical superiority in the central midfield area. The wing backs allow the team to create wide overloads, making it hard for opponents to defend the flanks. Inter also shows great speed of transition when moving from a defensive block to an attacking phase.

Inter utilizes a compact and aggressive system to dominate the central zones. This lineup is best suited for games against opponents who play with a narrow midfield or struggle with high intensity pressing.
