Carrillo looks to cut inside to create chances from the half spaces, while Sordo stays wide to whip it in or cross on the run. This midfield group works to press in a mid block to force a long ball.

Up front, Santos Laguna uses a two man strike partnership to lead the attack. Barticciotto and Tahiel play as the two forwards, often combining in tight spaces to pull defenders out of position. Barticciotto acts as a pressing centre forward to trigger a press from the front, while Tahiel works to hold up the ball and find the feet of the midfielders. They use runs in behind to exploit the space and look to get to the byline for cutbacks. The attack is built to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opposition.
