Starting Lineup

Isak · Saliba · Gabriel · Timber · Lewis-Skelly · Zubimeni · Rice · Odegaard · Saka · Barcola · Raya

Arsenal focuses on high pressing and controlling the center of the pitch with a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to win the ball back high up the pitch and dominate through central numbers. The team looks to control the game by squeezing the space in the middle and using quick transitions to punish teams.

Raya operates between the posts to manage the space behind the defense. The back line consists of a very high line led by Gabriel and Saliba. Saliba uses his recovery pace to cover while Gabriel remains dominant in the air. These two central defenders must be ready to step up to set the offside trap or drop to manage runs in behind when the team presses high.

The midfield is a crowded engine room designed to overwhelm the opposition. Zubimeni sits in a holding role to shield the two center-backs and recycle possession. Timber and Lewis-Skelly act as carriers to move the ball from deep. Rice operates as an attacking midfielder to press aggressively and win the second ball. Odegaard plays in the half-spaces to create and find the feet of the striker. This unit connects the defense to the front three by playing through the lines.

The attacking unit uses three forwards to pin the last defender. Isak acts as a central presence to hold up the ball and link play. Saka stays wide on the right to isolate defenders and cross on the run. Barcola plays on the left as an inverted winger to cut inside and threaten the goal. This front three presses from the front to force a long ball and keep the play in the opposition half.

Arsenal offers huge advantages through numerical superiority in the midfield. The ability to press high in coordinated waves makes it hard for opponents to build out from the back. This formation also creates wide overloads when the midfielders push up to support the wingers.

The 2-5-3 formation provides a heavy central presence for total dominance. This lineup is best suited for games where the team needs to suffocate an opponent through high pressure and ball retention.
