St (재헌) · Rw (성준) · Lw (현우) · Cm (재근) · Cm (기선) · Dm (승기) · Lb (예준) · Cb (상엽) · Cb (은국) · Rb (영현) · Gk (병배)Flamengo aims to control the pitch through a high press and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the opposition in their own half and create chaos when the ball is won high up the pitch. The tactical identity relies on heavy verticality and using the width of the pitch to stretch the defense.
The defensive unit starts with the Gk between the posts. A back five provides a solid foundation where the Dm acts as the central anchor, sitting deep to protect the area in front of the goal. The LCB and RCB operate as central defenders to win headers and clear the lines when under pressure. On the flanks, the LWB and RWB act as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width while tracking back to ensure they do not get caught out. This group works to hold a compact shape and defend zonally to close down passing lanes.
In the center of the pitch, the two Cm players operate as a double pivot to manage the game. One Cm works to shield the defense and win the second ball, while the other Cm acts as a carrier to drive forward with the ball. These two players connect the defensive unit to the front line by recycling possession and looking to play through the lines. They must be ready to press aggressively in a mid-block to win the ball back quickly.
The attacking front line consists of three attackers working in unison. The ST acts as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line, while the LW and RW operate as wide wingers who hug the touchline to spread the play. The LW and RW look to cut inside to create goal scoring chances or deliver crosses into the box. This trio works to create runs in behind the defense and uses quick combinations to catch the opposition out of position.
Flamengo gains a significant advantage through wide overloads when the LWB and RWB overlap the winger. The five man back line also offers great compactness when defending a lead, making it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. By using three attackers, the team can also pin the last defender and create one on one situations for the wide players.
This 5-2-3 formation provides a platform for aggressive attacking and defensive stability. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line or struggle with quick transitions.
