Hajduk looks to win the ball back high up the pitch and strike with speed through a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup focuses on a high press and quick transitions to catch opponents off guard. The tactical identity relies on verticality and using wide areas to stretch the opposition when moving from defense to attack.

Lučić guards the goal as the last line of defense for Hajduk. The back line operates as a back three with Sigur acting as the central figure to sweep behind the line and command the area. Uremović plays as the right center back to cover the wide spaces, while Prpić sits as the left center back to win the second ball. The wing backs, Hrgović and Melnjak, are tasked with providing the width, often pushing high to support the attack while tracking back to maintain a narrow defensive block when the team sits deep.

A three-man midfield provides the engine for this system. Krovinović operates as the left central midfielder to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while Rakitić plays as the right central midfielder to drive forward with the ball and press aggressively. Livaja operates in the hole as an attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to find the feet of the attackers or arrive late into the box. This midfield unit works to squeeze the space in the center and protect the three central defenders.

The attack features a partnership of two forwards, Rusyn and Mlakar, who work in tandem to pin the last defender. Mlakar leads the line as a pressing center forward to force long balls from the opposition, while Rusyn looks to play on the shoulder of the last man to make runs in behind. They combine in tight spaces to create openings for Livaja to exploit. The wide players, Hrgović and Melnjak, overlap the wingers to deliver crosses into the box, creating constant pressure on the opposition back line.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads through the movement of the wing backs. The team also benefits from compactness when defending, as the five defenders and three midfielders can easily form a dense block to deny the turn to opponents. This setup allows for a high pressing wave that can trigger a quick break toward the goal.
