Starting Lineup
Zamarian 06 · Aidoo 05 · Re Cecconi 06 · Maye 06 · Motta 05 · Bovo 05 · Berenbruch 05 · Topalovic 06 (Venturini 06) · Romano 06 (De Pieri 06) · Lavelli 06 (Spinaccè 06) · Mosconi 07Inter play a high press game using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and attack with speed. The goal is to squeeze the space and use verticality to catch the opposition out of position as soon as they try to play out from the back.
Zamarian stays between the posts to organize the back line. Inter use a flat back four where Aidoo acts as a right back to provide width. Motta plays as the left back and can push up to support the wingers. In the center, Maye and Re Cecconi form the central defensive pairing, with Maye acting as a ball playing defender to start attacks. They work together to defend zonally and ensure they do not get pulled out of position.
The midfield consists of a three man midfield with a carrier. Bovo sits in front of the defense as a single pivot to shield the back four and intercept passes. Berenbruch and Topalovic operate as the two more advanced midfielders. Berenbruch acts as the link between the defense and attack, while Topalovic looks to carry the ball forward into the half spaces. This group works to compress the midfield and win the second ball when the ball is lost.
In the final third, Inter deploy three attackers across the front. Lavelli leads the line as a pressing centre forward to force long balls from the opposition. Mosconi and Romano operate as wide wingers, with Mosconi looking to cut inside from the left and Romano stretching the defense from the right. The team focuses on making runs in behind and using combinations to find the feet of the striker. They often use the width provided by the wingers to create space in the middle.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having Lavelli and the wingers press from the front, Inter can trigger a press in the opposition half. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads when Motta and Aidoo move up to join the attack. This creates numerical superiority in certain areas of the pitch to break the lines.
Inter use this 4-3-3 to control games through high pressure and quick transitions. This lineup is best suited for facing teams that struggle to play short from the back under pressure.
