Zamarian 06 · Aidoo 05 · Re Cecconi 06 · Maye 06 · Motta 05 · Bovo 05 · Berenbruch 05 · Topalovic 06 (Venturini 06) · Romano 06 (De Pieri 06) · Lavelli 06 (Spinaccè 06) · Mosconi 07 (Pinotti 06)Inter aims to control the tempo and control the ball through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and use quick combinations to break lines. The team focuses on controlling the middle of the pitch to dictate how the game moves.
Zamarian plays between the posts as the goalkeeper. The defense operates with a flat back four. Aidoo plays as the right back and Motta works as the left back. In the center, Maye and Re Cecconi form the defensive line to protect the goal. Maye and Re Cecconi must hold the line and cover the space behind the full backs. The defenders work as a unit to win the second ball and keep the opposition from finding space in the box.
The midfield is a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Bovo sits in front of the defense to shield the back four. Topalovic and Berenbruch act as the two central midfielders to connect the defense and attack. Berenbruch and Topalovic must press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. They also need to receive on the half-turn to progress the play through the thirds. This trio works to control the center of the park for Inter.
The attack uses three attackers across the front. Lavelli acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. Mosconi plays as the left winger and Romano plays as the right winger. Mosconi and Romano often cut inside to create more central presence. They look to make runs in behind the opposition defense or pull wide to stretch the defense. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.
This formation offers several tactical advantages. Inter can create numerical superiority in midfield when the full backs push up. The team can also use wide overloads from the wingers and full backs combined. The high press allows the team to win it back high up the pitch and break quickly.
Inter uses this 4-3-3 to dominate possession and apply constant pressure. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that sit deep and defend in a low block.
