PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Trol (Ushido) · Aidn · Kenpachi · Bosinn · Akuu · TanNinja · JamaiconBacon (Zent) · Flawless · Luca · Lani · ShanksPSG relies on a heavy defensive base to execute a counter attacking game using a 5-4-1. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the opponent to commit men forward before hitting them on the break. The team looks to deny space in the middle and force the opposition to play wide. By staying organized, PSG can frustrate larger teams.
Kenpachi guards the goal within a narrow defensive block. The back line consists of a back five where Trol acts as the central defender to win the header and clear the lines. Bosinn and Akuu sit on either side of him to cover the space and pick up runners. Lani operates as the left wing back to squeeze the space on the flank, while Shanks works as the right wing back to track back and protect the wide area. This unit aims to stay compact and prevent any through balls from reaching the box.
The midfield works as a flat four to congest the center of the pitch. JamaiconBacon and TanNinja form the central pairing to shield the defence and win the second ball. They work to recycle possession once the ball is recovered and often look to play short from the back to move the ball forward. Luca and Flawless play as the wide midfielders, tasked to stretch the defence when the team moves forward but also to drop back and support the wing backs. This group helps to press in a mid-block to stop the opponent from playing through the lines.
Aidn leads the line as a lone striker. He is tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the oncoming midfielders. When PSG transitions, Aidn looks to run in behind the opposition back line to create chances. Luca and Flawless can push up to support him, often looking to deliver early crosses or cut it back to the edge of the area. The goal is to isolate the opposition centre backs and use the speed of the transition to strike quickly.
One major advantage of this formation is the extreme compactness when defending. With five defenders and four midfielders, the team makes it very difficult for opponents to find gaps in the middle. Another strength is the ability to win it back high up the pitch through coordinated pressing from the front. This allows for a quick break once the ball is intercepted. The ability to shift between a deep block and a pressing unit is a key asset.
This 5-4-1 formation provides a resilient shield that prioritizes defensive stability. It is best suited for facing teams that dominate possession and play with high lines.
