Starting Lineup

Raya · White · Saliba · Gabriel · Lewis Skelly · Odegaard · Partey · Rice · Nwaneri · Merino · Trossard

Arsenal focus on controlling games through high pressing and heavy possession in a 4-3-3. This formation allows the Gunners to squeeze the space in the opponent half and maintain constant pressure to win the ball back high up the pitch. It is a system built to dominate the ball and use verticality to break lines through the central areas.

Raya acts as the goalkeeper, playing short from the back to start the build up. The back line features a flat back four with White at right back and Lewis Skelly at left back. Gabriel and Saliba form the central pairing, with Saliba acting as a ball playing defender who can step into midfield to create an extra man. Gabriel provides aerial strength and covers the space behind the full backs. The defensive unit works to hold a high line to keep the team compact.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Partey sits in front of the defence to shield the back four and recycle possession. Rice plays as a carrier who can drive forward with the ball and press aggressively to win the ball back. Odegaard operates in the half spaces, acting as the main creator who connects the defensive and attacking lines. This group works to compress the midfield and prevent opponents from playing through the centre.

Arsenal use a lone striker in Merino to lead the line. Merino acts as a pressing centre-forward who can hold up the ball and provide a target for long balls. Trossard plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to create chances, while Nwaneri plays on the right to provide width and ability to carry the ball forward. The attack relies on quick combinations and runs in behind to stretch the defence.

This lineup offers several tactical advantages. Arsenal can create numerical superiority in midfield when Rice or Partey step up to support the attack. The team is also capable of wide overloads when White pushes high to overlap the winger. The ability to press high in coordinated waves makes it very difficult for opponents to build play from their own half.

This 4-3-3 setup is designed for teams that want to dominate through ball retention and intense pressure. It is best suited for matches against opponents that struggle to play out from the back under heat.
