Univ. Católica relies on an extremely aggressive high press and heavy central concentration within a 2-6-2 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and win the ball back immediately in the opposition half. The strategy focuses on overwhelming the opponent through sheer numbers in the central zones to force turnovers.

Bernedo acts as the lone man between the posts, often forced to sweep behind a very high defensive line. Ampuero and Dani operate as a two man central defence, tasked with winning the second ball and clearing the lines when the high press is bypassed. Because there are no full backs, these two central defenders must be prepared to cover huge amounts of space and stay alert to any runners moving into the channels.

The midfield is the engine of the Univ. Católica lineup, operating as a massive block of six players to control the tempo. Cuevas and Escobar act as a double pivot to shield the two central defenders and provide a base for others to push up. In front of them, Valencia, Canales, and Zuqui occupy the half spaces to recycle possession and progress through the thirds. Refuerzo plays as an attacking ten, looking to operate between the lines and find pockets of space to create chances.

The attacking unit uses a two man partnership to pin the opposition back. Zampedri plays as a pressing centre forward to harass the defenders, while Valencia operates as a second striker to find space in the box. This front line works in close combinations to exploit the central density. The goal is to use the massive midfield numbers to feed these two forwards quickly, allowing them to receive the ball in dangerous areas or play a one two to split the defence.

This formation offers massive numerical superiority in midfield, making it very difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the center. The high concentration of players allows for coordinated waves of pressure to squeeze the space in the middle third. By flooding the central zones, the team can quickly win it back high up the pitch and launch immediate attacks.
