Arsenal aims to dominate through high pressure and central density in a 2-5-3. The Gunners play with a heavy intent to control the ball and squeeze the opponent in their own half. This lineup is built to maintain constant pressure and win the ball back high up the pitch.

Raya stays in goal to anchor the defense. The back line operates as a narrow duo with G. Magalhães and Saliba. Saliba uses his pace to cover wide areas and acts as a ball playing defender. G. Magalhães provides aerial strength and defends zonally to maintain the line. This two man unit must stay compact to prevent runners from finding space behind them.

The midfield consists of a five man unit that occupies the width and depth of the center. Zinchenko and Timber act as the defensive base, with Zinchenko often dropping to help play out from the back. Jorginho and Rice form a double pivot to shield the defense. Rice uses his pressing intensity and ability to carry the ball forward to drive the team into the final third. Havertz operates as an attacking ten, finding space between the lines to connect the midfield to the attack.

In the attacking phase, Arsenal employs three forwards to pin the last defender. G. Jesus acts as a pressing centre-forward to lead the front line. Sterling and Ødegaard occupy the wide positions, with Ødegaard often cutting inside to create chances with his passing range. This lineup creates wide overloads and allows the team to combine in tight spaces. The forwards look to hit in behind on the transition or cut it back from the byline to exploit the central runners.

A major advantage for Arsenal is the numerical superiority they gain in the middle of the pitch. By using Rice, Jorginho, and Havertz, they can easily recycle possession and control the tempo. Additionally, the formation allows them to trigger a press in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for the opposition to play through the lines. This creates frequent opportunities to win the second ball in dangerous areas.

The 2-5-3 formation gives Arsenal an aggressive and offensive identity. It is best suited for breaking down teams that sit deep in a low block.
