Herrera works to shield the defence and intercept passes, while Milton Delgado looks to carry the ball forward to connect the defensive line with the front four. The attacking front line is very aggressive with two centre forwards in Velasco and Gimenez. These two forwards press the opposition back line to force long balls and prevent playing out from the back. On the flanks, Zeballos and Palacios play as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. This setup creates constant movement, with the wingers pulling defenders wide to allow Velasco or Gimenez to find space in the box. The team relies on quick combinations and runs in behind to break the line.

A major strength of this Boca lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers.
