This defensive unit must remain compact to prevent being caught out during transitions.

The midfield is a three man midfield with a carrier. K. A. Hansen works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often dropping to receive and move the ball forward. Heintze and S. Lerby operate in the central areas to win the second ball and provide support. They must work hard to press in a mid-block to stop the opponent from building play through the middle.
