S. Mele sits in goal to manage the defensive line. The back four consists of J. Navia and Guerrero as the wide defenders, while Báez and Cuenú occupy the central roles. J. Navia and Guerrero must hold the line and be ready to track back when the team loses possession. Báez and Cuenú work to defend zonally and win the second ball to prevent through balls. The unit must stay compact to protect the space behind them when the front four press.

A double pivot occupies the center of the pitch with C. Cantillo and Didier Moreno. C. Cantillo acts as a deep lying playmaker who tries to recycle possession and play through the lines with his passing range. Didier Moreno helps to shield the defence and press in a mid-block to deny the turn of opposition midfielders. This pairing connects the defensive unit to the attacking lines. They must stay disciplined to avoid being bypassed by central attackers.

The attacking unit for Junior is extremely aggressive with four players positioned high up the pitch. Enamorado and Yimmi Chara act as wide wingers to stretch the defence. Teo and Bacca play as a central partnership. Bacca uses his aerial strength and ability to hold up the ball to lead the line. The wingers look to cut inside to create space for the full backs or to deliver early crosses. This formation creates many runs in behind and relies on combinations between the four forwards to break the line.

This formation offers a massive attacking presence and the ability to pin the last defender with two central strikers. The team can create wide overloads when the wingers and full backs move together. There is also a high capacity to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The speed of transition allows the team to hit in behind on the transition before the opponent can settle.
