Inter relies on a heavy press and quick vertical transitions using a 3-5-2. This formation is built to control the center of the pitch while using wide areas to stretch the opposition. The lineup focuses on high energy and constant movement to win the ball back quickly.

The goalkeeper starts the build out from the back behind a back three. Milan Škriniar sits in the center as a dominant defender in the air. He is flanked by Benjamin Pavard on the right and Alessandro Bastoni on the left. Bastoni acts as a ball playing defender who can step into midfield to create a numerical advantage. Pavard covers the space behind the wing backs to keep the defensive unit compact when the team sits deep.

In the middle of the pitch, Inter employs a three man midfield with a carrier and two deep lieing playmakers. Hakan Çalhanoğlu sits deep to recycle possession and find the feet of the forwards. Near him, Nicolo Barella uses his intense pressing to win the ball high up the pitch. Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries operate as attacking wing backs who provide width by pushing high up the touchline. Rodrygo connects the lines by finding pockets of space between the opponent midfield and defense.

The attacking front line uses two forwards in a partnership. Lautaro Martínez works as a pressing centre-forward to force long balls from the opposition. Beside him, Marcus Thuram provides runs in behind to exploit the space behind the defense. These two attackers combine in tight spaces to pull defenders out of position. The wing backs often overlap the attackers to deliver crosses into the box or play cutbacks from the byline.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. Inter can create wide overloads through the movement of Dimarco and Dumfries. The team also gains numerical superiority in midfield when Rodrygo and the wing backs push forward. This allows the club to squeeze the space in the middle and force the opponent into wide areas where they can be trapped.

Inter uses this 3-5-2 to dominate games through central control and wide aggression. This setup is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line or struggle to handle intense pressing.
