Starting Lineup

A high press and rapid verticality define the lineup for AVS, which operates in an unconventional 2-5-3 formation. This system is built to win the ball high up the pitch and punish opponents immediately through direct play. By pushing many players forward, the team aims to overwhelm the opposition in their own half.

Hardik stays between the posts to command his area. The defensive unit consists of a back two with Adumb and Aarush acting as the central defenders. These two must remain disciplined to cover the wide spaces left behind when the midfield pushes forward. They often need to step up to catch attackers offside or track runners in behind. As the only two players in the deep line, they must be ready to defend large amounts of ground if the initial press fails.

The midfield is the engine of AVS, consisting of five players who control the center and the half spaces. Abel and Samad act as a double pivot to shield the defense and provide a base for the others to push forward. Ayansh operates as a central midfielder to connect the lines and recycle possession. On the flanks, Jay and Thanav occupy the attacking midfield roles to provide service to the front three. These players are tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and support the transition from defense to attack.

In the attacking third, the team utilizes three forwards to stretch the opposition. Umer acts as the lone striker, looking to find the feet of his teammates or run into channels. Abdullah and Abhay play as wide attackers, with Abdullah on the left and Abhay on the right. They look to cut inside to create central overloads or stretch the defense to allow for runs from the midfield. The movement of this front three is designed to pin the last defender and create space for late runs from Jay or Thanav.

One major tactical advantage for AVS is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The formation also creates numerical superiority in the attacking zones, often leaving defenders outnumbered in the final third. This allows the team to create many chances through quick combinations and rapid transitions.
