Cosenza focuses on being defensively solid and compact, working primarily from a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to strike. Strizzolo operates as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the advancing midfielders when the team pushes up. The attack relies on the movements of Ciervo and Rossi, who act as wide attackers. They look to cut inside or overlap the winger to create passing lanes. When Cosenza wins the ball, they look to hit in behind on the transition, with Strizzolo making runs in behind to receive long balls. The team seeks to play in combinations during transition to exploit high lines.

A major strength of this Cosenza lineup is the numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. By packing the midfield, they can compress the midfield and deny the pivot of the opposition. This makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Additionally, the team can quickly switch play to the wide areas once the ball is won to catch the opposition out of position.
