Atalanta prioritizes a high press and aggressive verticality through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and attack the opponent immediately with numbers. The goal is to squeeze the space and force mistakes in the opposition half to create rapid transitions.

Rensing operates as the goalkeeper in this system. The back line consists of a back three where B. Koné acts as the right center back and Marcelo holds the central position. Miquel plays as the left center back to complete the defensive trio. This unit works to defend zonally and remains ready to step up to catch attackers offside or sweep behind a high line when the press is bypassed.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and a central core. Captain Cigarini sits in the middle to control the tempo and link the defensive and attacking lines. Carmona and Noone operate on either side of him to press aggressively and win the second ball. Selassie plays as an attacking ten in the hole to drive forward with the ball and find pockets of space between the lines.

At the front, Atalanta uses three attackers across the front. Muriel plays on the left wing and M. Steven occupies the right wing, both looking to cut inside and threaten the goal. Zapata acts as the central target man to hold up the ball and win the header. The forwards press from the front to pin the last defender and create space for the attacking midfielders to arrive late into the box.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for Atalanta. The team can achieve numerical superiority in the central areas when Selassie pushes forward. The aggressive pressing from the front three can win it back high up the pitch to catch the opponent out of position. Additionally, the setup allows for quick wide overloads if the wingers and midfield shift to one side.

The 3-4-3 is a highly aggressive formation designed for teams that want to dominate through intense pressing. It is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
