Ajax plays a heavy possession based style of football using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the ball and control the tempo through central combinations. LITMANEN plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to connect the midfield to the attack. These players work together to recycle possession and find the feet of the attackers.

Ajax uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. KANU acts as the lone striker who can hold up the ball and bring others into play. On the flanks, FINIDI and OVERMARS operate as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. The team attacks through combinations between the forwards and the attacking midfielder.
