Beside him, Seedorf and Wim Jonk operate as central midfielders who carry the ball forward and press aggressively to win it back. Seedorf uses his technical ability to move the ball out of tight spaces, while Wim Jonk provides energy to connect the lines and support the transition from defense to attack.

The attacking front line is incredibly heavy, utilizing four attackers to stretch the defense. Bergkamp and Van Basten operate as two forwards in a partnership, with Bergkamp often dropping slightly to link up play between the lines. Van Basten acts as the central focal point to find the feet of the strikers and finish chances. Overmars and Nwankwo Kanu play as wide wingers who stretch the opposition, with Overmars looking to drive at defenders and Kanu using his unique ball control to create space.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through massive numerical superiority in the attacking third. By deploying four players across the front, Ajax can pin the last defender and force the opposition into errors.
