Chelsea aims to dominate through heavy pressure and verticality using a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup focuses on getting as many bodies as possible into the opposition box to force mistakes. The team seeks to pin the opponent back and win the ball high up the pitch to maintain constant pressure.

R. Sanchez sits between the posts to anchor the defense. The back three consists of Tosin, Levi Colwill, and Chalobah. Levi Colwill acts as a ball playing defender who can play out from the back and progress through the thirds. Tosin and Chalobah provide cover and stay central to defend zonally. They work together to hold the line and ensure the team does not get caught on the counter.

In the middle of the pitch, Reece James plays as a single pivot to shield the defense. He sits deep to intercept passes and recycle possession. Enzo Fernandez operates as a deep lying playmaker who can switch play and find the feet of the striker with his passing range. K. Dewsbury-Hall connects the defensive and attacking lines, often carrying the ball forward to drive the team into the final third.

Four attackers make up the front line to stretch the defense. Cole Palmer operates as an inverted winger on the right and will cut inside to create chances. Marc Cucurella plays on the left to spread wide and whip it in toward the box. T.George and Nkunku form a striking partnership in the center. Nkunku uses his movement to find pockets of space and will arrive late into the box to score. These forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

One clear advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the final third. By committing four players to the attack, Chelsea creates wide overloads and central threats. The ability to press high in coordinated waves allows the team to win it back high up the pitch. This makes them extremely dangerous when they hit in behind on the transition.

Playing a 3-3-4 formation represents a high risk and high reward way to play for Chelsea. It is best suited for games where they face a side that sits deep and needs to be broken down by constant pressure.
