Cameroon seeks to play a direct and high pressing style of football using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup relies on physical presence and quick vertical transitions to unsettle the opposition. In the center, N'Koulou © leads the defense with his positional awareness and leadership, while Matip uses his aerial strength and ability to play out from the back to start attacks. The unit must stay compact to prevent through balls.

The midfield consists of a single pivot with two more advanced players. M'Bia sits in front of the defense to shield the back four and intercept passes. Enoh and N'Guémo act as the engines in the middle, with Enoh working to connect the defensive and attacking lines through his passing range. N'Guémo provides the grit to win the second ball and press aggressively in a mid-block. This three man midfield works to control the center and ensures the team can transition from defense to attack.

Cameroon employs three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Aboubakar acts as the focal point in a lone striker role, using his strength to hold up the ball and link play. Moukandjo operates as a wide winger on the right who looks to cut inside and threaten the goal. On the left, Choupo-Moting provides a different profile, often making runs in behind to stretch the opponent. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers significant advantages through its ability to press in coordinated waves. By using a high press, Cameroon can win the ball high up the pitch and catch teams in transition. The presence of physical players like Aboubakar and N'Koulou © also allows the team to win the header and dominate set pieces.
