Al-Nassr (KSA) Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Al-Aqidi · Al- Fatil · Laporte · Al- Ghannam · Konan · Brozovic · Al- khaibari · Ghareeb · S. (Mane) · Otavio · C. (Ronaldo)Al-Nassr focuses on a heavy midfield presence to control games, utilizing a 2-6-2 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the center of the pitch and squeeze the space in the middle third. The team seeks to pin opponents back by flooding the passing lanes and keeping the ball through a massive concentration of players in the central zones.
In goal, Al-Aqidi sits behind a very narrow back two. Laporte and Al-Fatil operate as the central defenders, playing in a high line to keep the team compact. Laporte acts as a ball playing defender to start attacks, while Al-Fatil provides cover to sweep behind the line. Because there are only two defenders, this unit must hold the line carefully and stay ready to intercept long balls sent into the channels.
The midfield is the engine of Al-Nassr, featuring a massive six man block. A deep pivot consists of Al-Ghannam and Konan, who sit in front of the back two to shield the defense and recycle possession. Brozovic and Al-khaibari operate as two central midfielders who carry the ball forward and help win the second ball. Further up, Ghareeb and Otavio play in the half spaces as attacking midfielders to connect the lines. This group can quickly shift to block the runner and deny the turn to the opposition.
The attack uses a two man partnership in the front line. S. and C. work as two forwards to press the opposition back line and stay high. They look to receive on the half-turn and find the feet of the striker or play one-two combinations to break the line. The goal is to use the support from Ghareeb and Otavio to create runs in behind or allow the strikers to hold up the ball until the midfielders arrive late into the box.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through numerical superiority in midfield. By occupying so many central zones, Al-Nassr can compress the midfield and make it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. The team can also use its numbers to create wide overloads if the attacking midfielders pull wide to stretch the defense.
Al-Nassr relies on this dense central buildup to dominate possession and suffocate the opponent. This formation is best suited for matches where the team needs to control the tempo against a side that struggles to play through a heavy press.
