Independiente Football Formation
Starting Lineup
CLAUSEN · VILLAVERDE · TROSSERO · ENRIQUE · MARANGONI · GIUSTI · BURROCHAGA · BOCHINI · BARBERÓN · BUFARINI · GOYÉNIndependiente relies on an aggressive attacking mindset to control matches through a 2-5-3. This formation aims to pin the opposition back and win it back high up the pitch. It is a high press lineup designed to dominate the final third by keeping players close to the opponent's goal. By playing this way, the team tries to force a long ball from the opponent and regain possession immediately.
GOYÉN plays behind a very narrow defensive unit. VILLAVERDE and TROSSERO form a two man back line that must step up to squeeze the space. These two central defenders act as ball playing defenders to play short from the back and progress through the thirds. Because there are no full backs, they must be quick to cover the wide areas. They often have to defend man-to-man in large spaces when the team loses the ball.
The midfield is the engine of this Independiente side. MARANGONI sits in the center to connect the defensive and attacking lines. ENRIQUE and CLAUSEN occupy the central areas to help recycle possession and win the second ball. GIUSTI and BOCHINI push into the half spaces to provide width and create chances from deep. This five man unit works to compress the midfield and prevent the opponent from playing through the lines. They aim to trigger a press as soon as the ball enters their zone.
Up front, the team uses three attackers to stretch the defence. BUFARINI acts as the central striker to find the feet of his teammates and hold up the ball. BARBERÓN and BURROCHAGA operate as wide attackers to pull wide and get to the byline. They look to combine in tight spaces or deliver early crosses into the box to catch the defense off guard. These forwards also press from the front to force a long ball and keep the pressure high.
One major advantage is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The presence of five midfielders allows the team to win it back high up the pitch and immediately attack. Another strength is the numerical superiority in the central areas which makes it hard for opponents to progress through the thirds. This allows the team to build in triangles and move the ball quickly to find a teammate in a better position.
This 2-5-3 formation is built for total dominance and high intensity. It is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a low block through constant pressure and attacking combinations.
