Hajduk aim to play with a vertical identity that looks to hurt opponents on the break. They utilize a 4-4-2 formation to maintain balance while looking to strike quickly. This lineup relies on quick transitions and direct play to move the ball from the back to the front as fast as possible.

Lučić guards the goal and organizes the defensive unit from the back. The team defends in a flat back four where Sigur operates as the right back to provide width while Hrgović plays as the left back. In the center of the defense, Uremović and Prpić form the central pair. Uremović acts as a ball playing defender who can carry the ball forward, while Prpić is tasked to cover and win the second ball. The unit works to maintain a compact shape to deny space between the lines.

The midfield operates with a single pivot and a three man midfield group that shifts during the game. Krovinović sits in front of the defense to shield the back four and recycle possession. Rakitić and Pukstaš operate as the central runners who connect the defense to the attack. They are tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high and drive forward with the ball into the half spaces. Livaja plays in the hole behind the strikers, acting as an attacking ten who finds the feet of the strikers and creates chances from central areas.

Hajduk use two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition back line. Šego and Mlakar operate as the front two, with Šego often acting as a pressing centre forward to force a long ball from the opponent. Mlakar looks to make runs in behind to exploit space. The attack relies on the link up play between Livaja and the two strikers to create combinations in tight spaces. The team looks to get the ball to the wings to whip it in or use the central presence of the strikers to hold up the ball.

One major strength of this Hajduk lineup is the ability to hit in behind on the transition. The combination of the quick runners in midfield and the two strikers makes them very dangerous when they win the ball. Another advantage is the numerical superiority they can create in the middle of the pitch when Livaja drops deeper to help the midfield.

This 4-4-2 formation is built for a direct and aggressive style of football. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line and leave space behind their defenders.
