Denmark aims to play a vertical and direct game that focuses on defensive solidity and rapid transitions using a 4-5-1. The midfield works as a five man unit with a double pivot of Morten Hjulmand and captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. Højbjerg provides high pressing intensity and protects the defense, while Hjulmand works to intercept passes and recycle possession. Christian Eriksen operates in the central role to connect the defensive and attacking lines, using his passing range to find teammates. Jesper Lindstrøm and Gustav Isaksen occupy the half spaces to provide support, with Lindstrøm looking to drive forward with the ball and Isaksen ready to run in behind.

Denmark uses a lone striker in Rasmus Højlund to lead the line. Højlund acts as a pressing centre forward to force the opposition into mistakes and hold up the ball to allow the midfield to move up the pitch. The wingers and attacking midfielders must support him by making runs into the box or pulling wide to stretch the defence. The attack is built through quick combination play in transition, often looking to hit in behind on the transition once the ball is won in the middle of the park.

This formation offers Denmark the ability to press in a mid block and maintain compactness when defending. The double pivot of Højbjerg and Hjulmand creates stability, allowing Eriksen the freedom to search for a pass. The setup also creates opportunities for speed of transition, using the movement of Isaksen and Lindstrøm to catch opponents out of position.
