Cameroon aims to play a reactive, counter attacking style of football with a 4-5-1 formation. A.Onana guards the net and acts as the first point of distribution. The back line sits as a flat back four with Nouhou Tolo on the left and J.Tchatchoua on the right. In the center, M.Ngadeu and C.Wooh act as the central defenders, where Ngadeu provides aerial strength and Wooh covers the space behind. The unit stays narrow to protect the central areas, forcing the opposition to the flanks.

A three man midfield sits behind the front line to control the center of the pitch. M.Hongla acts as the single pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Next to him, A.Z-Anguissa and C.Baleba operate as the central midfielders, where Anguissa uses his ball carrying abilities to drive the team forward. This trio works to win the second ball and connect the defense to the attacking players in the final third.

The attacking structure uses a lone striker, V.Aboubakar (C), who leads the line as a target man. He holds up the ball to allow others to join the play. M.Ngamaleu and B.Mbeumo play as the wide midfielders, but they are tasked with cutting inside to create goal scoring chances. They provide the width when needed but often move into the half spaces to support the striker. This creates a heavy presence in the attacking third during transitions.

Cameroon benefits from a high level of compactness when defending in a mid block. The formation allows them to shift quickly to cover the width of the pitch.
