Hugo stays between the posts to command his area. The defensive unit functions with a back three consisting of Vini Souza, Otávio, and Natan. Vini Souza acts as the central defender to organize the line, while Otávio and Natan cover the spaces beside him. Wesley and Ramon operate as attacking wing backs, pushing high to provide width and support the attack. This setup allows the defenders to drop into a low block if needed or squeeze the space to force a long ball.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to manage the center of the pitch. João Gomes works to press aggressively to win the ball high and uses his energy to disrupt the opposition. Paquetá operates as the creative engine, looking to receive on the half-turn and play through the lines to find the attackers. These two must work hard to protect the space behind them and ensure the team is not caught out during transitions.

Flamengo utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender. Vini Jr plays as an inverted winger on the left, frequently cutting inside to use his explosive dribbling style and directness. Lázaro occupies the right wing to provide balance and stretch the defence. Rodrigo Muniz acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and provide a central presence. The front three work to press the opposition back line, looking for runs in behind or cutbacks from the wide areas.

This formation offers significant advantages through wide overloads when Wesley and Ramon push up. The team can also use numerical superiority in the attacking third to isolate wide players in one on one situations.
