PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Donnarumma · Pacho · Marquinhos · Hakimi · Nuno · Vitinha · João Neves · Fabián Ruiz · Kvaratshkhelia · Doué · DembeléPSG aims to control the ball and push the opposition back through a heavy high press. This 4-3-3 formation allows the team to dominate the center of the pitch while staying ready to strike quickly. The lineup focuses on quick ball movement and intense pressure to win the ball back high up the pitch.
Donnarumma stands between the posts, utilizing his shot stopping to deny opponents. The defensive unit operates with a high line to squeeze the space. Marquinhos and Pacho form the central pairing, with Marquinhos using his positional sense to cover the deep space. Hakimi acts as an attacking full back on the right, often overlapping the winger to create overloads. On the left, Nuno provides balance and tracks back to defend against counters.
The midfield is anchored by Vitinha in a single pivot role. Vitinha uses his passing range to recycle possession and find teammates in advanced positions. He sits in front of the defence to deny the pivot and break up play. Fabián Ruiz and João Neves operate as the two central midfielders. Ruiz can carry the ball forward into the half spaces, while João Neves presses aggressively to win it back high up the pitch.
The attack is built around a lone striker, Dembelé, who uses his dribbling to beat his man and create chaos. Kvaratshkhelia and Doué play as wide attackers to provide constant width. Kvaratshkhelia looks to cut inside from the right wing, while Doué stretches the defence from the left. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. This allows the team to win the second ball and start a new attack quickly.
PSG gains a major advantage through the speed of transition. When the team wins the ball, Dembelé and Kvaratshkhelia can hit in behind on the transition immediately. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads. By having Hakimi push high, the team can isolate Kvaratshkhelia in one on one situations against a defender. This combination of width and central presence makes the team very difficult to mark.
This 4-3-3 formation is built to dominate games through ball control and high pressure. It is a lineup best suited for attacking opponents who prefer to play a high line.
