Barella works as an inverted eight, pressing aggressively to win the ball high and driving forward with the ball to connect the lines. Mkhitaryan plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers, finding pockets of space to link the midfield and attack. Dimarco and Zalewski provide the width, operating as attacking wing backs who push up to overlap the midfielders and stretch the defense.

Inter employs two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. Lautaro plays as a pressing centre forward who works to pin the last defender and create space for others. M. Thuram works as a mobile striker, using his strength to hold up the ball and link up play between the lines. They combine in tight spaces to create runs in behind. The wing backs, Dimarco and Zalewski, provide the width by getting to the byline to deliver crosses, while the central attackers look to arrive late into the box or pull wide to create mismatches.
