Cameroon plays a vertical and direct style of football using a 4-3-3 formation. The team focuses on winning the ball and moving quickly toward the goal to catch the opponent out of position. This lineup is designed to use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence and create scoring chances through rapid transitions.

Onana operates in goal to command the area and start play. The defensive unit sits in a flat back four with Yongwa and Tchatchoua playing as full backs. Boyomo and Castelleto form the central pair. Boyomo acts as a ball playing defender to progress through the thirds, while Castelleto is dominant in the air to defend crosses. Yongwa and Tchatchoua push up the pitch to provide width, which means the central defenders must hold the line and cover the space behind them.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Zambo Anguissa plays as a central midfielder who can carry the ball forward and connect the defensive line to the attack. Baleba plays alongside him to press aggressively and win the second ball in the middle of the pitch. Ngomou plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to receive on the half-turn and play through the lines to find the forwards.

Cameroon uses three attackers across the front to pin the opposition back. Magri plays as a pressing centre-forward to lead the line and hold up the ball. Soko and Mbeumo act as wide wingers who look to cut inside and threaten the goal. Mbeumo is known for his pressing intensity and ability to run in behind the defence. The wingers try to receive the ball in space to isolate a one-on-one wide or whip it in toward the near post.

A major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the front three. The midfield pairing of Zambo Anguissa and Baleba provides great speed of transition once the ball is intercepted. This formation also creates wide overloads when Yongwa and Tchatchoua overlap the wingers to stretch the opposition.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on a high tempo to break down opponents. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line and can be caught on the break.
