Celta prioritizes a high press and quick transitions using a 4-3-3. This formation allows the team to push high up the pitch and hunt for the ball immediately after losing it. The lineup is built to win the ball high and strike quickly before the opposition can settle.

V. Guaita stays between the posts to start the build up. The back four works as a zonal line with Carreira acting as a right back who can push up to support the attack. O. Mingueza plays at left back and can overlap to provide width. In the middle, Javi Rodríguez and Starfelt form the central pairing. Rodríguez often acts as a ball playing defender to play short from the back, while Starfelt works to cover the space behind the full backs.

The midfield operates as a midfield of three with a central playmaker. Iago Aspas sits in the middle to connect the defensive and attacking lines, using his vision and passing range to find teammates. Ilaix Moriba and Marcos A. sit on either side of him to press aggressively and win the ball high. Moriba often carries the ball forward to drive the play, while Marcos A. works to protect the space in front of the defense and recycle possession. This group works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposition players.

Up front, the attacking trio uses the width of the pitch to stretch the defence. Alfon operates on the left wing as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside to shoot. Fran Beltran plays on the right wing to provide balance and can cross or move into the box. Pablo Durán acts as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. The forwards are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition back line.

One major advantage for Celta is the ability to press high in coordinated waves through the midfield and front three. This creates opportunities to win the ball in dangerous areas. The team also benefits from the ability to switch play quickly between the wide players and the central runners. By using the technical ability of Iago Aspas, they can break the line with a through ball to the wingers.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense pressure and quick vertical movement. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
