Mallorca aims to be a defensively solid unit that strikes quickly on the break using a 5-3-2. The team relies on a direct way of playing that focuses on staying compact. This formation is built to defend in numbers and then use the pace of the players to exploit gaps in the opposition.

Dominic Greif starts in goal to lead the defensive unit. The back five functions as a narrow defensive block that is very hard to penetrate. Raillo sits in the middle of the line to be dominant in the air and command the area. Valjent and Copete play as the wide centre-backs to cover the space and sweep behind the high line when needed. Maffeo and Mojica act as attacking wing backs who push up the pitch to provide width and support the attack.

A three-man midfield acts as the engine of the Mallorca lineup. Samu Costa sits in front of the defense to shield the back line and win the second ball. Sergi Darder and Antonio Sánchez occupy the spaces in front of him to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Sergi Darder plays short from the back to recycle possession and find the feet of the striker. Antonio Sánchez works to press in a mid-block and drive forward with the ball to break the line.

The team uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Dani Rodríguez and Cyle Larin work together to find space and link up play between the lines. They often look to run in behind the defenders or pull wide to stretch the defence. Maffeo and Mojica overlap the attacking line to get to the byline and deliver early crosses. This movement forces the opposition to defend deep and creates chances for the strikers to arrive late into the box.

This system offers several tactical advantages. The compactness of the back five and the midfield provides a very strong defensive base. The team can also create wide overloads from the overlapping full backs. When Mallorca wins the ball back high up the pitch, they can break quickly and catch the opposition out of position.
